Geocaching

Barbara,

I have enjoyed all your ideas about boys being boys. One thing our family
enjoys is geocaching. I don't know if you are familiar with it. We use our
GPS to find things that people have hidden in a wide variety of outdoor
locations. We find the caches on the internet and then locate them in our
area. When we locate the spot, there is usually a trinket that you can take
and you leave something of your own behind. Many of the locations are
just off bike paths or hiking trails. Some are tougher terrain. For our
boys, it is like a huge treasure hunt that is endless. There are locations
all over the country (and world) so we find them when we go on vacations.
It is a great adventure and good exercise!

Happy Mother's Day!

Chris

This was news to me, but sounds like fun! With caution, of course.

We go geocaching as a family, too. It is GREAT! (Although sometimes we act like they do on Amazing Race). I even have a whole blog category just for geocaching.

I wholeheartedly agree. Our family has been doing this for several years and it is quite the adventure for boys - as well as girls. I just logged my 200th cache this past weekend.

Geocaching is supposed to be AWESOME...of course, you do need that GPS to do it.

There is another thing similar to this called Letterboxing, which I had never heard of. It combines navigation and rubber stamp artistry....something interesting if you're a crafter as well as into geocaching! You can read more about it here: http://www.letterboxing.org/

Great things to do as a family!
