Free coloring pages - top quality

With school starting up, I'm rerunning this so new readers can sign up for this resource too:

Hi Barbara,

I just wanted share something with you that I came across today. I have been on the lookout for some Dover coloring books since seeing them in your Barbara's Picks' section. Today I happened to stumble across a website that advertised free Dover coloring pages. You can sign up using your email address and every Thursday they will send you a link to several free coloring pages. I thought maybe you or some of your readers would find this site helpful.

Dover Publications: Free Coloring Pages and Activities

God Bless and have a wonderful weekend!
Melanie

I signed up for mine! I've been recommending Dover forever. They are wonderful teaching tools with a vast assortment of coloring books covering all periods of history, plant and animal life, cowboys and Indians, paper dolls, coats of arms - oh my goodness, the list is endless. Check out their classic art and stained glass series too.

I am hoping to work out a referral agreement with Dover, but until then remember if you buy Dover products through amazon, you will be supporting this site.

I don't recommend anything unless our family uses it. I've been using Dover coloring books and PrismaColor pencils for my kids for 20 years. Coloring books are wonderful for developing children's fine motor control and concentration. And the Prisma pencils are a bit pricier but far superior to the ones you buy in the drugstore because the lead is softer and easier for kids to color with. For more information on how to make the most of these pencils and teach your children to care for them, go to Barbara's Picks: Early Education and scroll down to read my recommendation.

Anyway, do sign up for the free weekly pages. And check out the wonderful assortment at Dover. What a family-friendly company!

Love,

We love, love, love the Dover Sampler each week, as well as the Dover Coloring Books and Prismacolor pencils (just purchased a new set two weeks ago). Add a good quality electric pencil sharpener and you have the recipe for hours of fun in our house. I particularly love the high quality paper used in printing the Dover Coloring books, as opposed to the paper used in grocery store-type books, which cost just as much, if not more, than the Dovers.

My girls used to ask me to "click me out a picture" whenever the Dover Sampler arrived. They ask it in a different way now, but they still love it.

I might be too late for a response, but what kind of sharpener do you use? The Crayola pencils are so hard to use because they don't sharpen well with any of the sharpeners we've tried (and break too easily).

I am going to order some of the pencils you suggested, but how about a sharpener?
