i cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it dseno't mtaetr in waht oerdr the ltteres in a wrod are, t he olny iproamtnt tihng is taht the frsit and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a ta otl mses and you can sitll raed it whotuit a pboerlm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Azanmig huh? yaeh and I awlyas tghuhot slpeling was ipmorantt! if you can raed tihs forwrad it.
Don't know if the 55 out of 100 people part is true, but thought you might have fun sharing this with your kids. It really shows how flexible the human mind is.

The amazing thing is that after the first sentence, I read it as fast as would have read it spelled correctly.

It IS a funny exercise, but I have heard that the only reason we can read it (those who can) is because we learned to read with phonics- sight reading couldn't decode it, I think.

I think I learned reading by sight reading and I can read it too. This was fun! Never tried that before :)

Interesting! Although I learned to "sight-read" and found it easy, seems like sounding it out with phonics might be confusing like this.

Hey what do ya know? I'm fluent in Mixed Up! Actually it looks more like my typing on a cold winter morning when my brain and fingers are running slow.

Very fun! I had no trouble reading this... reminds me of how Hebrew is written, without vowels. Blessings, e-Mom

I could read this just as if I were reading something written correctly. Too funny...by the way- I'm Sarah. I've read your blog a few times and really enjoy it! =)

Wow! My 7 year old could read this. The only words he had a problem with were university and phenomenal and he said sleeping for spelling.
