Hallelujah Chorus - four versions

I hope I converted at least some of you to the joys of Messiah. Here are three versions of The Hallelujah Chorus I've found on YouTube:

And here is a three-woman rendition by The Roches (I saw them perform this in person):

Asians love Handel too:

And here is a boys' choir - beautiful

btw, it is customary to stand during The Hallelujah Chorus

On March 23, 1743, Messiah, written by George Frideric Handel (1685 – 1759) in 1741, was performed for the 1st time in London, England. Present was the King of England. The king was so moved by the singing of the “Hallelujah Chorus,” he spontaneously stood to his feet and remained standing until the end of Handel’s masterpiece. (And when the king stands up, EVERYBODY stands up.) Ever since that day, it has been customary for the audience to stand whenever the “Hallelujah Chorus” is sung.

My family have all been informed of my wish to have The Hallelujah Chorus played at my funeral (not that I'm expecting a funeral anytime soon, Lord willing). I love, love, love, love the message of joy and triumph the Chorus proclaims. "For the Lord God omnipotent reigneth....forever and ever and ever......."

Blessings,

Sandy
